Kalshi's 2027 title book turned $253,324 in the last twenty-four hours and $181,885 of it—72%—went through Philadelphia, a team the same book prices at 11%. The two actual favorites, San Antonio at 23% and Oklahoma City at 22%, took $1,247 and $620 between them.
This is not a one-day artifact. Philadelphia carries $5,206,960 of open interest, more than four times the $788,036 backing San Antonio and Oklahoma City combined, and nearly a third of the book's entire $19.3M. Somebody has been building this position for a while.
Divide the title book by the conference books and the implied Finals odds fall out. San Antonio is 35% to win the West and 23% to win it all—a 66% conditional. Oklahoma City is 34% and 22%, a 65% conditional. Philadelphia is 22% to win the East and 11% overall, exactly 50%. New York is 21% and 9%, 43%. Kalshi is pricing the Western champion to win the Finals roughly two times in three.
The title Categorical on Kalshi next to Manifold's play-money version. Kalshi's thirty legs sum to 115%; Manifold's nineteen sum to 100% and lead with Oklahoma City at 19.1% rather than San Antonio.
The day's deepest leg next to the book's favorite. Philadelphia at 11% took $181,885. San Antonio at 23% took $1,247. A 146-to-1 volume ratio in favor of the team the market likes half as much.
The two conference books. Both sum to 108%, tight for a thirty-team split, but they trade almost nothing—$5,476 in the East and $1,241 in the West, against a quarter of a million dollars in the title book above.
The West book is the more interesting of the two. San Antonio and Oklahoma City are separated by a single point at 35% and 34%, and between them they took $32 of the day's flow. Denver at 6% took $1,078—87% of the entire Western book.
The West's co-favorites, side by side. 35% and 34% to win the conference—and 23% and 22% to win the title. The gap between those pairs is the market's Finals forecast, and it is the same for both: roughly two-thirds.
Two Manifold books on the season's shape rather than its winner: how far the Knicks go, and who takes MVP. Manifold's MVP crowd leads with Victor Wembanyama at 32%, matching Kalshi to the point—one of the few places these two venues line up.
- Philadelphia's $5.2M of open interest is the story, not the day's volume. A single 11% leg holding 27% of the book's money is a position, not a flow. Watch whether the price moves when it unwinds.
- The West champion is priced to win the Finals two times in three. San Antonio 35%→23%, Oklahoma City 34%→22%. The East champion gets 50% at best. If you think the conferences are closer than that, the arbitrage is in the conference books, not the title book.
- The Lakers at 3% took $35,579, second-deepest on the day and twelve times what the two title favorites took combined. Another longshot carrying real money.
- Manifold leads with Oklahoma City, Kalshi with San Antonio. A one-point gap on Kalshi and a clear ordering on Manifold. The play-money crowd is not hedging the same way.
- The conference books are effectively untraded. $5,476 and $1,241 against $253,324 upstairs. Their prices are stale by construction—treat the implied Finals odds above as a read on the title book, not as two independent markets agreeing.
